Are birds blind? I know bats are, but what about birds? I ask because birds are constantly flying into my bedroom window and startling me. Just now I lost an entire train of thought because of the thump that just occurred as a bird ran into the bedroom window. This is not the first time that it has happened either. Ok, it just happened again, this time sounding like wings brushing past the window.

I had to get up to check and see what is really going on and I saw the most amazing sight. It looked like these little birds were playing chase or follow the leader. I saw the one that possibly hit the window. He was flying low as if a little bit dazed. These have got to be kids who have not yet learned to fly steady.  They are swooping from tree to tree. Some high fliers and some low fliers. It seems to be about three or four of them just playing and having a good time. 

Their activity makes me want to go outside myself and enjoy the weather. The sun on the leaves gives the impression that it is nice and warm outside. How disappointed I will be if that turns out to not be the case. How disappointed I will be if I go outside ready to enjoy the warm sunny day and it is chilly.

I look out the window at the trees that surround  and I don’t see signs of wind blowing. The branches are not waving at me. They actually seem still. This is why I am concerned about the temperature of the air outside. Somewhere I have learned that still air means cold air. I am going to have to test this theory to see how true it is (but not right now).

Right now, I think I am going to get back under the covers and catch a few sheep more….
