…All Other Ground is Sinking Sand

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
Matthew 7:24‭-‬27 NIV

The key is in the application.

Any one can parrot a word
But when one can add a practical application to the mix…

Watch out now.

📌

I had to come back to this post.

I couldn’t leave it at what I said above because I had to acknowledge that Jesus prepares us.

I have shared that in my stories of how Jesus has been preparing me.

Well in these verses that is just what he did. He forewarned us. Check it out.

Jesus said…

  1. The rain came down.
There will be some storms in our lives that we will have to go thru. Some of those storm do more than water us. Some of those storms are so strong they rip up foundations that are not firmly rooted. (Last night Jesus reminded me in Colossians 2:6,7 that I was to be rooted in Christ Jesus). He is preparing me. Storms can only wash away what does not have a firm foundation.
  2. The streams rose.
Whatever that storm was, it was great. It was overwhelming. But I choose to remember Peter who when he took his eyes off Jesus he began to sink while walking on the water. That is my reminder to keep my eyes on Jesus. I can’t swim so I dont have time to be sinking. Lol.
  3. The winds blew.
This one is easy. That’s all the chatter of people. All the comments. The fears. Etc. Etc.
Whose report will I believe? Jesus
  4. And Beat against the house.
There is much going on in the world around us but nothing impacts us as much as what occurs in our own backyard. We can brush off a lot but Jesus prepared us for the direct attacks against us. He prepares us for what beats against our house.

That is what the Bible is for us, which is why a practical application of what we read is so important.

God’s Word will stabilize us when the storms of life get rough.

Gods Word will ground us when financial, relational or health issues arise.

Gods Word will stabilize us when transitions occur.

We must understand that the time to root ourselves is not when the storm is happening, but before the storm hits.

📌

Before the hurricane…
Before the tornado…
Before the flood…
Before the fire…

Now

…We need to be ready.
…We need to prepare.
…We need to shore up ourselves

Now

And Jesus Christ made sure to do just that for us.

He prepares those who listen today just like Noah was prepared for the flood in his day.

CATCH🤺

If you are not preparing now
If you are not shoring up your family and home
You will not be ready for when the storm hits.

CATCH.🤾
