Denying Christ

If I denied Jesus here on Earth can I really expect to be with him in heaven?

How is it that we deny Jesus on Earth?

Well how do you spend your time?

Do you get up every morning with Jesus on your heart? and your mind?

Are your first thoughts, early in the morning, to get in the presence of the Lord?

How much time do you spend in the word of God reading it and allowing God’s word, Jesus, to speak to you?

If you deny  spending time with Jesus, listening to him speak to you through his word, because you are too busy – busy getting ready for work; busy getting ready for school; busy sleeping; busy recreating (having fun or relaxing); busy interacting with others…

If you allow busyness to get in the way of your spending time with the Lord then you are denying Christ.

Jesus said,  “therefore whoever confesses me before men, him I will also confess before my father who is in heaven; but whoever denies me before men, him I will also deny before my father who is in heaven. -Matthew 10: 32 – 33

Confessing or denying Jesus before men that happens here on Earth.

It happens through how we spend our time. So, if Monday through Saturday Jesus is desiring time with us, but we don’t have time for him, that is denying him.

We tend to think that because we attend some type of worship service on Saturday or Sunday for an hour, maybe two hours, that we are spending time with Jesus and actually that’s not true.

The truth of the matter is in those worship Services we are spending time with other believers and we are confessing Jesus and our belief in Jesus, but we are not spending time with Jesus.

To give you an example of the difference I’m going to use something that most people are familiar with I’m going to use music…

I can have a favorite artist that I listen to on the radio, and I can sing their songs all day long, but that doesn’t mean that I’m spending time with that person; nor does it mean that person even knows that I’m singing their songs, or listening to their music all day long – there’s no relationship there.

That’s the same with King Jesus. I can attend all the worship services that I want, and listen to people talk about worship. I can watch worship services on TV. I can listen to the music. I can sing the songs. But that does not mean that I have a relationship with King Jesus who is the word of God.

I’m going to reiterate, King Jesus is the word of God. Therefore, to spend time with God means that I’m spending time in his word, reading God’s word.

Being an author, I feel qualified to say this: when you spend time reading a book you are getting the thoughts of the person that wrote the book.

So, to spend time reading Bible-based materials does not mean that you are spending time with God. If you spend your time every morning reading some portion of a daily devotional you are not spending time with God, you are getting the thoughts of the person who wrote that daily devotional.

To spend time with God is to spend time reading God’s word; and getting God’s heart, and God’s thoughts on matters. We must remember that “all scripture is inspired of God and beneficial” God’s word tells us. So when we read God’s word not only are we learning about those whom God used and inspired to write for him but we’re learning about God.

It is this time when we are reading God’s Word that we are sitting with the Lord, and spending time with the Lord, and letting God’s thoughts get in to our mind, and drop down into our heart as we meditate on the things that we read; and what we meditate on, what we think deeply about, what gets into our heart, that’s what come as a confession out of our mouths.

It is that time that we are able to confess Jesus before men because we spent time with Jesus while here on Earth.

Therefore when we take this time to just sit and read God’s word itself, and Let Jesus speak to us through the word of God here on Earth, it is then that we are confessing Jesus before men.

You see we must understand that to confess Jesus is not just something that we do with our lips and with our words, it is also what we do with our actions.

Whether we realize it or not, people are paying attention to us. They are watching our behavior.

So when people see us sitting with the word of God and reading the word of God on a daily basis, whether we are at home, or at school, or in the park, or wherever… when they see us doing that, it is even then, whether we know it or not, that we are unknowingly confessing  Jesus Christ before men.

We don’t have to have a microphone and a platform to confess Jesus Christ. We can confess Jesus Christ in our everyday walk just by how we behave and interact with other people. In this it can be shown that we have spent considerable time in the presence of Jesus Christ here on Earth.

But if we deny of Jesus our time and attention here on earth, do we really think that he’ll have time for us in heaven?

We can’t change the time that has passed already that we did not spend time with Jesus,  but we can take the time that we have now and spend the time that we have now  with Jesus.

If we do that this will be time well spent because it will be time that we can show that we are confessing Jesus before men knowing that he said that if we confess him before men he will confess us before heaven.

So without any further ado, let’s go and spend some time with King Jesus by reading God’s word.
