It’s Time To Get Ready – A Ministry SKIT

AHHHHH!!!!! (SCREAMING)

HALLELUJAH!!!! ( PRAISING AND CLAPPING)

AHHHHHH!!!!! ( RUNNING AND JUMPING AROUND MY KITCHEN)

“What’s going on?!?” you ask

(Catching my breath and trying to calm down enough to talk) “God explained IT to me!!!” I shout excitedly

“Explained what?!?” you ask, laughing at me because of how funny I look, and because you are feeling my excitement.

“WELL, I have been listening to the broadcast of the Most Highly Anticipated Wedding Celebration from my Without A TRACE series – part 4*, over and over and over, because I have been commissioned to turn it into a live play by God; so I am working on it for my last class at school….”

“Ok, OK and…” you say impatiently because you want the joy, but you don’t really want the details

“Listen do you really want to know because the details are important” I respond only a little annoyed because I have too much joy to let anyone’s impatience shut me down right now.

“Yes, I want to know, I want what you got, go ahead, and tell me, I’m Listening,” you say

“Ok… so as I am listening to this broadcast, and it is at the part where it talks about the 10 virgins again… you know the one where five are foolish and five are wise…”

“Found in Matthew 25?” you ask amazed that you remembered where it was.

“Yes,” I say. “verses 1-13. Well, all of a sudden I heard the Holy Spirit say to me:

[ YOUR WORD IS A LAMP FOR MY FEET AND A LIGHT ON MY PATH]

…found at Psalm 119:105, and all of a sudden I started repeating that in my mind all while the 10 virgins were being discussed.”

“Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path” you repeat pondering over it and looking at me.

“Listen… all of the virgins had lamps with them right?” I ask

“Yes,” you say.

“At Psalm 119:105, David says to God, in praise and worship, ‘YOUR WORD is a lamp for my feet.’ Therefore, all of the virgins had their lamps, or another way of looking at it is to say all of the virgins had God’s Word with them.”

A light bulb comes on because you have that “AWWW I see” look on your face as you meditate on that part.

“But wait, that is not all…”

With a large smile on your face, and excitement creeping up in your spirit because THE JOY OF THE LORD is entering into the room, and beginning to touch your spirit too, you say to me, ready for the knock out punch, “tell me, tell me more.”

(laughing) “Well, remember that the five foolish virgins, though they had their lamps like the five wise virgins, did not have extra oil with them.

“”yes, yes,” you say, again impatiently, but impatient because of understanding and desiring more.

“Well, the oil is the HOLY SPIRIT. Remember in the Old Testament whenever a new king was appointed, oil was poured over the head of the one that was chosen by God. Therefore, it is not enough to have and read your Bible. Remember all of the virgins did that, and they all fell asleep too. But when the sound of alarm comes that the Bridegroom is on the way, and all of the virgins begin to wake up, what was the deciding factor that kept the five foolish virgins from being able to participate was that even though they had their lamps, they did not have the extra oil. OR, the anointing of the Holy Spirit was not present in their lives.”

“Oh Wow! How can you tell if the Holy Spirit is present?” you ask

“Well, let’s go to God’s Word for that answer. Do you have your Bible with you?” I ask…

“Uhm…” you answer, feeling a bit convicted especially now that we are talking about the five foolish virgins, and how it was that they were unprepared.

“Here let me share mine with you. Listen to what Jesus said at Matthew 7:16-20 New International Version (NIV)

16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

Matthew 7:16-20 New International Version (NIV)

So using this same principle of being able to recognize someone by their fruits, the Apostle Paul now says at Galatians 5:22-23 New International Version (NIV)

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Galatians 5:22-23New International Version (NIV

Is there love, joy peace, forbearance (patience, longsuffering), kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness (mildness) and self-control present? Then the Holy Spirit is present.

Have you ever been around Christians who are sour faced, always murmuring, complaining, depressed, unhappy?

Have you ever went to a church where everyone looked mean in the face when they come in; they don’t get up and say hello; there is no joy in the house?

Have you ever been in a service where there is no joy in praise and worship; where everyone sits in their seats  and when you are done singing they clap as if they are sitting in a theater?

Have you ever been in a service that starts off dry, and then it picks up during the sermon, but that is only because the pastor says “Tell your neighbor___…”, “Repeat after me___…”, or he is hopping around and shouting trying to get some life out of the crowd, and not because the Holy Spirit is high in the house (though it might be high in him or her because they submitted themselves in spirit and truth before speaking to the dry land)?

Have you ever seen life in the church only after it was time to go and services was over? “

(Laughing)

“You need to stop”

(giggling)

“But you are not lying.”

We both chuckle over the realness of it. I continue, “Jesus gave us all types of parables to let us know that we need to be ready in addition to that of the ten virgins.

At Matthew 24:36-44 New International Version (NIV) Jesus said in reference to The Day and Hour Unknown 36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left. 42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

The Bible writer Luke quoted Jesus as saying this…

Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation;nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”Then He said to the disciples, “The days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.And they will say to you, ‘Look here!’ or ‘Look there!’ Do not go after them or follow them. For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day.But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built;but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.“In that day, he who is on the housetop, and his goods are in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise the one who is in the field, let him not turn back.Remember Lot’s wife.Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.I tell you, in that night there will be two men in one bed: the one will be taken and the other will be left. Two women will be grinding together: the one will be taken and the other left. Two men will be in the field: the one will be taken and the other left.”And they answered and said to Him, “Where, Lord?” So He said to them, “Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.” – Luke 17:20-37

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke17:20-37&version=NKJV

Now look at how Jesus concluded verse 37 when the disciples asked him ‘Where?’ in reference to those who will be left behind.

Jesus said “WHERE THERE IS A DEAD BODY, THERE THE VULTURES WILL GATHER.”

Now think about this, the vultures in this case represent demonic spirits. Thus, it is important that we make sure that we have oil for our lamps – extra oil.

It is important that we make sure that we are ready to go when the Bridegroom comes for his church.

It is important that we understand that the “church” that the Bridegroom is coming for has nothing to do with the denomination or the building….”

“oh wow, that is why those verses mentions different locations where one is taken and one is left behind, in bed, grinding grain, in the field, OH WOW!!!…” you say reflectively as you grab my bible from me, along with  a pen and some paper.

“yes it is very serious” I answer as I finally begin to calm down and settle in to continue to minister this Word of God….
