When the Past reaches out to warn the Present about their Future

Going thru my Facebook memories of posts that I wrote in years past, I came acriss this one that I wrote on this day two years ago…

This is Monday.
About 3 or 4 days ago the Holy Spirit had me consider Jonah.

I didn’t understand why?

I assumed I was being checked for having an attitude like Jonah did regarding the Ninevites.

I know I wasn’t being checked about those Jonah gymshoes because God took my pair(s) in 2017. (When God takes something from you, you can’t get it back. Lol)

It was early yesterday morning that I was given revelation on why I was made to consider Jonah.

The Holy Spirit dropped in my spirit the following…

How awesome it would be if the President of the United States, in all of the press releases he was doing, would simply go live and ask everyone in the United States to fast and pray.

How awesome it would be if this was not made out to be about religion or denomination, but if he would ask everyone to fast and pray like the ruler of the Ninevites did.

But, alas, instead of that happening, everyone is being told to wash their hands and limit interactions in large groups.

We are still not acknowledging God even though we are praying for deliverance.

God said to humble ourselves and pray. We simply pray. Still not following directions.

How many more people have to get sick?
How many more people have to die?

This post is not for the ones who are paying attention. God knows those who belong to him.

But God is no respector of persons.
For God so loved the world
Its not God’s desire that anyone lose their lives
God’s word tells us what to do:

2 Chronicles 7:13-16
Psalm 35:13,14
Mark 9:29

How about that.

Originally written in 2022 but it still is on point because it addresses everything we are facing still.

If only we took note of the example of the Ninevites.

They didn’t know God. They didn’t even have a relationship with God. Yet they knew that if they were going to try something, this was what they needed to do…

Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time:

“Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you.”

Jonah obeyed the word of the Lord and went to Nineveh.

Now Nineveh was a very large city; it took three days to go through it. Jonah began by going a day’s journey into the city, proclaiming,

“Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown.”

The Ninevites believed God.

A fast was proclaimed,

and all of them,

from the greatest to the least,

put on sackcloth.

When Jonah’s warning reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust.

This is the proclamation he issued in Nineveh:

“By the decree of the king and his nobles:

Do not let people or animals, herds or flocks, taste anything;

do not let them eat or drink.

But let people and animals be covered with sackcloth.

Let everyone call urgently on God.

Let them give up their evil ways and their violence.

Who knows?

God may yet relent

and with compassion turn from his fierce anger so that we will not perish.”

When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not bring on them the destruction he had threatened. – Jonah 3:1-10

The Ninevites understood the assignment.

This world and ALL of its governments including the (un/dis)United States of America have not understood the assignment.
