Title: Containing Self – Hold Your Tongue;Verse: Proverbs 13:3

Those who lack self control often feel like they are doing or saying something when they run off at the mouth giving full vent to their emotions.

They walk away smug in attitude not recognizing the danger that they have moved themselves closer to experiencing.

Hold your peace.
Let them have all the last words they want. They will eat that fruit.

The truth of the matter is that the human that has real strength is the one that can hold their tongue, and keep reign of their emotions. They wont let situations and circumstances steal from them by using a lack of self control to kill or destroy what is of true value – relationships.

Don’t think that it is easy to hold one’s tongue when being pushed up levels of annoyance. But with the help of the Holy Spirit in your ear quoting God’s Word to you, you can resist that urge to respond and/or retaliate. ( See Proverbs 26:4-5.)

People will try you to no end. But if you can withstand under the pressure so as to not react or respond; if you can hold still, as hard as it might get, you will see a reward – relief. (See Matthew 4:11, and James 1:2-4; James 4:7.)

Regarding the individual that lacks self control: the person that tests your limits will see a reward too that they won’t like. (See 2Thessalonians 1:6-8.)

There will be consequences paid by those who are careless with their words spoken, and the one who pays out those consequences is the one who judges the intent and motives of the heart. (See Matthew 12:36.)Therefore, those consequences will have a long term effect.

I’ve known several people who have had smug attitudes with careless mouths who today wish that they did things different.

I cringe when I see people on that same path towards the regret I know they will suffer later. I have tried to warn people to watch their words and not be so harsh in how they speak to and of others.

Time has taught me that everyone don’t care to be warned. So when I do warn it is because I am moved to do so. Truly a labor of love.

Nevertheleas, there are only so many warnings you can give. After that, dust your feet, wash your hands and step back and watch the end results.

I feel as if I am getting close to being done with warning. How soon I don’t know. But what I do know is that, in accordance with Ezekiel 3: 17-21, I warned.

Experience can take it from there.
