“I Am A Christian” and…

“I am a Christian” we say.

But what does that really mean?

Are you still a Christian when you are fussing, cussing, threatening, insinuating and basically throwing an adult tantrum?

Are you still a Christian when you are slandering and speaking evil upon other human beings?

What does it mean to say “I am a Christian” and yet be so full of hatred for the very humans Jesus died to save?

What does it mean to say “I am a Christian” and yet be so full of offense?

What does it mean to say “I am a Christian” and yet be so darkened with negativity that it spews continuously from one’s mouth?

“I am a Christian” we say.

Yet are we?

This is what Jesus said…

“Beware of false prophets,

who come to you in sheep’s clothing,

but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

You will know them by their fruits.

Do men gather grapes from thornbushes

or figs from thistles?

Even so, every good tree bears good fruit,

but a bad tree bears bad fruit.

A good tree cannot bear bad fruit,

nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.

Every tree that does not bear good fruit

is cut down and thrown into the fire.

Therefore by their fruits you will know them.“

Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven,

but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

Many will say to Me in that day,

‘Lord, Lord,

have we not prophesied in Your name,

cast out demons in Your name,

and done many wonders in Your name?’

And then I will declare to them,

‘I never knew you;

depart from Me,

you who practice lawlessness!’“

Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine,

and does them,

I will liken him to a wise man

who built his house on the rock:

and the rain descended,

the floods came,

and the winds blew

and beat on that house;

and it did not fall,

for it was founded on the rock.“

But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine,

and does not do them,

will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand:

and the rain descended,

the floods came,

and the winds blew

and beat on that house;

and it fell.

And great was its fall.”

– Matthew 7:15-27 NKJV

That is beyond profound to me what King Jesus said.

At the end of the day

Christian

You can say what you want

But it’s what you do that matters.

Jesus said that it is the one doing the will of His FATHER that will enter into the Kingdom of heaven.

So saying “I am a Chriatian” means nothing.

You have a choice.

You are at a crossroads right now.

Today

Today you need to decide what is important to you. Choose life. And protect that choice by changing your response to the world around you. How you respond to the world matters.

Why?

Because that is what you are being judged by King Jesus on. Your own words and actions.

I’m going to tell you like Jesus told me a few years ago lol

I was in my prayer closet complaining about my perception of the disrespectfulness of those around me. I was going on and on and on presenting my case because I just knew I was right and justified to feel how I did – offended.

And Jesus said to me…

What about you?

I was confused and silenced. “I don’t understand the question.”

Jesus said to me, “are you doing what I told you to do?”

And I stood corrected because as the end of the day I couldn’t honestly say that I was being obedient to Jesus as I complained about the behaviors of others.

Ever since then that has been my focus. Take the rafter out of my own eye before I attempt to address the splinter of another.

What does Jesus tell us to do?

I’m so glad you ask

1. Cast our cares on him. 1 Peter 5:6-11

2. Forgive with all our heart. Matthew 18:21-35

3. Trust Him to be able to fix and resolve matters. Psalm 37

Trust me I know these because I recently had to employ them.

In this world we will have trouble.

How we respond to the trouble matters.

Pick up your cross and walk Christian
