Theme: Chosen by God; Verse: Deuteronomy 7:6-8

Being Chosen was not about a race or nationality of people.

Being Chosen was about a promise that God made to one man (Abraham), and then to his son (Isaac), and then to his son’s son. (Jacob / Israel).

The promise God made was fulfilled in Christ Jesus birth and death on this earth.

That action covered us all because God loved us all.

So today, you and I can say we were chosen.

God chose us when he gave His only begotten son to pay our debt for us so that we can be debt free in Christ.

God chose us when he redeemed us back to himself. (He could have easily destroyed every human and started over but HE didn’t.)

Being Chosen is not about us. We are nothing but loved.

Being Chosen was a choice God made because he loved us not because of us loving him because many of us love only in word not in deed.

This statement might be taken offensively but if we are honest then we can truthfully acknowledge that we don’t spend time with God like we should. We might pray a lot, but how much time do we spend reading Gods Word the bible. (Not a devotional, not listening to a sermon, but actually reading Gods word.)

If we spend more time watching television or on our computers than we spend reading the Bible then it is not God’s face that we are seeking. It is not His voice that we long to hear.

Thats a hard but true statement which causes us to examine ourselves.

In a 24 hour day, how much time is spent with the Lord.

10% of 24 is 2.4. Do you spend 2hours and 40 minutes with reading Gods Word every day.

It is incorrect to say that no one does because some people do and it is evident in their lives. It is also incorrect to compare ourselves to others. We will stand before the seat of judgment alone so we are to make sure we are doing what we are supposed to do in Christ irregardless of what others do.

He tells us to seek His face.

He tells us to not forget Him.

He tells us to remember.

How can we claim to be chosen and yet don’t act like we have been chosen.

Being Chosen is not about being better than the next.

Being Chosen is about relationship.

When we are in a relationship, we like to spend time and share our resources (giving of our energy, spending our finances, and most importantly, giving our time.)

Are we chosen?

How are we measuring up in the area of relationship?

Has our relationship with the Lord been one-sided with God doing all of the giving and our being selfish in taking only, but not giving in return?

We all have room for improvement.

As for me, I am grateful that I was shown this and allowed to ponder it within myself first and share this in writing so as to inspired others to love and fine works also.

“For you are a holy people to the Lord your God;

the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself,

a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth.

The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people,

for you were the least of all peoples;

but because the Lord loves you,

and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers,

the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand,

and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

Oh and before I forget…

It is important that you know who your pharoah is and what your Egypt was that God delivered you from.

For some it is addictions and vices. Some has had to be delivered from drug use, alcohol abuse, and smoking.

As for me, I had to be delivered from domestic violence and from the mental and emotional negative feelings that had about myself due to a brokenness that I experienced that would cause me to allow myself to be treated so abusively.

We all have something that we need divine intervention on. Many don’t understand that addictions of any kind is a side effect of a brokenness that exists.

Also few consider that we are all broken. We were all born in brokenness. That is what sin is and who can help us is God alone.

So to be brought out of something by a mighty hand, by strength not our own, is what it means to be chosen.

When you can identify your egypt, you can see a little clearer how you have been  chosen.

Be blessed.
