In Matthew 16 Peter was presented with keys 🔑. Why?
Let me just say this…
[Here’s a little extra nugget]
Children are so amazing to me. They have their toy cell phones and toy keys and toy cars and they love to imitate their parents in play.
As I found myself considering young children, I was reminded of the story found in Acts 19:11-20.
There was a bunch of Jews who had seen some of the unusual miracles that God did through the hands of Paul and they began traveling from place to place exorcising demons out of people “by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.”
Well…
During that time there were about 60 chief priests and one of those chief priests was named Sceva. Well, he had some sons who saw what those Itinerant Jewish Exorcists were doing and they wanted to do it too.
They went to this guy who had an evil spirit on him and well let’s just say this…
…toy keys don’t work, toy money can’t buy anything, you can’t call anyone with a toy cell phone.
Now I mention that to say this…
That demon said, “I know Jesus. I know Paul. But who are you?”
We can learn to imitate church lingo.
We can say stuff just like we hear others saying it whom we have placed on pedestals because we see what we think is power in their lives. (Those itinerant Jewish exorcists exorcised “by the Jesus whom Paul preached.)
Those seven sons of the Jewish chief priest saw what looked like power and they imitated an imitation. How about that.
Its important that we have the real deal connection and that we are not imitating an imitation. 1st THROW : CATCH.
Now here is the 2nd THROW …
Once you get the 🔑
Just holding a 🔑 won’t take you no where.
You need to use the 🔑 you got.
You need to put your 🔑 in the 🔐
You need to turn your 🔑 and unlock🔓 the lock🔒
You need to use your key to activate / open
So that you can move forward
Otherwise you are sitting still
With keys
And going no where.
CATCH
When your keys don’t work
What you gonna do?
Thats my extra nugget
Now check out the video.
I am bursting at the seams
I got something to share.
