Proverbs 15:10(b) says…
“The one who hates correction will die”

Words are not minced here. It is clear. If you hate correction you will die.
There is no gray area, there is no fence to sit on. If you are one who cannot / will not receive correction, end of story God’s word says you will die.
So here’s the deal…
Divorce is a death
Loss of a job is a death
Jail is a death
One experiences those when they don’t accept the correction of counsel. But one can also recover from those if they avail themselves of the counsel that can still be heard crying out.

Wisdom cries out, Proverbs tells us.
Wisdom saves you, Proverbs tells us.
If you have suffered a death mentioned above, reach out for wisdom… Before it is too late.
You see, there is a death where the refusal to receive counsel can take you that you can’t recover from because with this death you won’t hear wisdom calling out to you; with this death you won’t be able to grab ahold of wisdom to help you get back up after you fall.
While I mentioned three deaths above, there are also paths that can lead one to death…
… The path of the wicked man
… The path of the loose woman
… The path of lack of self-control (visible in addictions: food, drugs, sex, alcohol, etc)
Proverbs keep telling us to “listen”.

But, do we?
Do we listen readily to wisdom when we accuse a person of judging and therefore not receive the warnings given – you know that saying, ” Can’t nobody judge me but God. “
This is said by the person who doesn’t understand that the judgment we are all deserving of is death because we are all sinners.
But God doesn’t desire that any of us lose our lives, so in his unfailing grace towards us and his mercy towards us, He sends wisdom to us in the form of corrective counsel. He uses imperfect humans to deliver his love – his counsel. (Hebrews 12:5-12)
And when this counsel is refused, in actuality, you are refusing God’s grace and mercy. You are refusing God’s love in favor of his judgment.
How backwards is that.
If you don’t want an individual telling you anything, at least read Proverbs and live.
Its better to start somewhere, than to end up nowhere.
