We Have Got To Do Better

It hasn’t been plain.
I guess we thought it was, but it wasn’t.

Televised preacher: “we need to walk in God’s ways…”

Pan of the audience to see everyone listening intently. Yet it almost looks like a blank stare.

Me: (hearing from the background) what does that mean preacher. To walk in God’s way. What does that mean?

Don’t get me wrong. I agree with everything you are saying. But tell the people how to walk in God’s way because they don’t know how. Show them how to walk in God’s way because they don’t know how. And Jesus said that this is important to their entering into God’s Kingdom Matthew 7:21-27

How do you walk in God’s way, preacher?
How do you do Gods will?
How will a person know Gods will if they don’t open Gods Word and read it?

Preacher, everything you are saying sounds good. I appreciate it all. I appreciate the fish sandwich.

But can you please teach us how to fish so that we don’t have to wait for a fish sandwich to be given to us.

You tell us to walk in God’s way.
You tell us to do Gods will.

Show us how to open Gods Word.
Show us how to ponder over what we read.

Show us how to open a dictionary to examine the meaning of words we don’t know.

Show us how to take what we are reading and pull out the principles so that we can practically apply it to ourselves individually in our own day to day walk.

Show us how to study.

Show us how to ask the question that would unlock the answer

Show us how enjoyable studying Gods Word can be

Show us how rewarding it is

Where is the pedagogy?

Bell rings. Service is over.

Person A: ooo church was good today
Person B: wow really what was it about
Person A: 😳

Person B: what scripture was highlighted
Person A: 🤔

Person B:🙄

This scene needs to change.

Where is the pedagogy?

If the student isn’t learning that is a reflection on the teacher’s ability to teach.

Note: Please do not leave from anything I’ve written with unanswered questions. Ask me questions about what I wrote. My desire is to inspire, motivate and encourage but never to confuse.

We’ve got to turn this thing around so that the people will understand that Father is as near to us as His word on our lips. (Deuteronomy 30:14; Romans 10:8)

The people are hurting and need the loving care of their Heavenly Father. We need to help them attain that intimacy and not push them away from it.

Lord, help us. We have got to do better in how we are representing you.
