NAVIGATING THE STORMS OF LIFE: When God is Trying to Give You Something

Oowee do I have a story for You – a true story about Storms, especially considering I came through two in 2022

Storm #1: Began for my husband and me on May 29, 2022, and lasted a period of two weeks. It was a quick sand experience in that the storm was not ours, but we were dropped down into it like Alice falling down a rabbit hole.

I have learned how to navigate the Storms of life and music is one of the ways I find peace in a storm.

When storms hit I have learned that it is important to anchor myself.

Storm #2 began late in the evening of June 19, 2022, and carried over into June 20, 2022, lasting until about 2 pm where I can say that by this time I had experienced medical care and bandaging at the spiritual hospital with King Jesus attending to me because, in this storm, which was different from the first one, I was wounded and needed immediate medical care.

In both storms, I received amazing testimony, but because of the intensity of the second storm and because of how I was wounded, my gain from the second storm was much greater; and it inspires what I am sharing now and will be sharing later.

I have a song for this storm too.

In the Bible, we read of how Jesus spoke to the storm and told the storm peace be still. Jesus also said that we who believe will be able to do the same miracles that he did because he was going his way to the Father.

Now, this is an amazing testimony so I have broken it into pieces because I didn’t want you to miss anything. I have been waiting a while to share this with you too. Lol

So let me begin with this first lesson with the video Storms of Life followed by a more detailed message:

IN STORMS, THE HEART OF MEN IS EXPOSED.

When a person thinks of storms many think of tornadoes, thunder, lightning, rain, and hurricanes; but there are storms that come that don’t bring rain. These are the various trials and tribulations that one goes through. These storms include heavy winds, earthquakes, and fire but it’s not what we have been programmed to think of naturally.

The best way that I can explain this is to take you back to this amazing story found in  1 Kings 19: 11, 12.

( Click this link to read it:  http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1Kings19:11-12&version=ESV )

This is the story of Elijah who had run away fearfully because of Queen Jezebel. He made it to the mountain of the Lord and in preparing to talk to the Lord he had the most amazing experience.

A great powerful wind passed by that tore up mountains and scattered rocks, but the Lord was not in the wind. An earthquake occurred, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. Then a fire occurred, but the Lord was not in the fire. Afterward, there was a still small voice.

Now I went into some detail about this in the video (shown above), but I want to look a little bit closer at this here so this is an addition to what I have already shared.

Re: The Wind
We are told that it tore mountains apart. In the Bible, mountains represent kingdoms and governments. This wind was also said to have scattered rocks. Rocks are the principles that man stands on. Now I had mentioned that the wind, in this instance, is our spoken words, and in this verse, we are told that God is NOT in the wind. Therefore, the wind is negative speech, spoken doubt.

Re: The Earthquake
Next, an earthquake passes by, and God is not in it. We were created from the dirt of the ground so the earth represents humans, and quaking represents fear. God was NOT in the negativity spoken, and God is definitely NOT in the fear.

Re: The Fire
The next thing that passes by is a fire, and we are told that God is NOT in the fire. When I think of fire, and considering all of the other representations of wind and earthquakes, I believe fire to represent rage and anger. Verse 12 lets us know that God is NOT in the fire.

Nevertheless, after the wind, earthquake, and fire passes by, God shows up in the form of a still small voice.

The Practical Application of 1 Kings 19:11,12:

(Let’s look at how these elements show up in the storms and boils of life today. )

In a storm, the winds of negativity are very present. Negative words are spoken, as well as doubt when what should be spoken is trust in God to bring us through.

This reminds me of how gentle the Holy Spirit is that causes Him to be likened to a Dove 🕊.

The earthquake shows up in a storm in the form of fear. Negativity spoken fuels fear when what should be spoken is faith.

The next thing that we see in a storm is a fire in the form of anger and rage. How great the fire depends on how strong the wind of negativity spoken is, and again we are told that God is NOT in that.

Re: The Still Small Voice
Finally, in a storm, you hear a still small voice. The fact that the voice is “still” means that there is peace. The fact that the voice is small tells us that only a few experience this in a storm.

Few can go through a storm and maintain peace. Few experience being in the boat with Jesus during their storms. Few know how to rouse Jesus awake in the middle of their storms. Few experience the miracle of Jesus calming their storms.

Elijah experienced the presence of God. GOD is so very great that terribly strong winds pass first and it is so strong that mountains are torn up and rocks are scattered. But God is NOT in the powerful terrible wind that sweeps through the room.

One of the ways that the Holy Spirit is described is as a Wind. Y’all know I have a song. In it the singers say, Here Comes The Presence of the LORD sweeping in the room.

Elijah is waiting to speak to God and the wind comes first and passes, then the earth begins to quake and I can’t help but be reminded that God covers us, sending His ministering angels before us, to make our crooked paths straight; and stationing a rear guard behind us to protect us – a cloud by day, and a fire by night.

I feel like we are looking at the festivals of the Lord:

  • (Wind) Passover and the Festival of Weeks
  • (Earthquake) Pentecost (where we get to renew our covenant with the Lord)
  • (Fire)Yom Kippur/Day of Atonement and the Festival of Ingathering.

Elijah is no doubt shaking too as he waits to experience the presence of the Lord and a Fire passes by.

The Holy Spirit is also described as a consuming fire. It burns away anything that is not of GOD. It also sets ablaze all that is in its path and activates like fire-activated charcoal.

Yes, I have a song for that too. One of my favorites. Consuming Fire by Pastor Elaine Rose and God’s Voices of Fire.

Oowee! Purify me, LORD!!!

What a wonderful awe-inspiring display as Elijah waits and then it happens. He hears a still small voice.

(Personal note: I am baked and done. This is just a snippet of what’s to come of what Father just brought me through and that I am able to share. I just settled down enough to begin sharing and I am lit again. Oowee. Fighting once again to contain myself only because I want to share this with all of you. This is great. I can only imagine what Daniel experienced who fell as if dead at the sight, and what the Apostle John saw in being caught away. I need to end this and enter into my prayer closet.)

There is something of significance that we’re being shown here also.

Trouble Comes First, but it doesn’t last.

Hold on.

Look out in the world around you today:

There is trouble.

The Wind is moving, tearing up, breaking up mountains, and scattering rocks.

The Earth is quaking with fear.

There is Fire all around us – anger and rage all around us, and God is in none of that.

But there are a few who, in the midst of the storm, seem to have found that narrow path.

Let me say it like this:

Large is the road leading to destruction, and many are on it, but narrow is the path leading to life, and few are finding it.

Jesus is the WAY.
Jesus is the TRUTH.
Jesus is the Life.

CATCH.

(Oowee, and this is only a snippet of what is to come. Oowee.)
