You Are Personally Invited…

An Allegory of Proverbs 9:1-6

By Jodi L. “SILENCE” Serino-Barbour

I had the most amazing experience that I want to share with you about a restaurant I was recently taken to. I went on a date with Jesus. I was told I can bring friends with me on the next date. (Read Proverbs 9:3-5)

He owns the restaurant I was taken to, and it is so beautiful. (Read Proverbs 9:1) Since this experience, I will never eat from fast foods again. Let me tell you about it, then you can decide if you want to go with me when I go again the next time.

This amazing restaurant is opened 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year round. It is never closed. You can eat all of your meals there if you choose. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner is served there like at Old Country Buffet/ Shoney’s except they have waiters and waitresses to assist you. This is what I experienced:

The table was set (Read Proverbs 9:2) for a nice evening meal.  (Read Luke 14:16-17)

We wet our throats with ice cold pure WATER [knowledge] (Read Amos 8:11; John 4:13-14; Revelation 22:17)

and sampled the variety of BREADs [our relationship with others] as we waited for the house WINE [life experiences] to be brought to us. It was the very best of wine for it came from Jesus’ vineyard itself. (Read John 2:9-10; Isaiah 5:1-2)

A tray of APPETIZERS [getting to know oneself] was set before us. Everything was so tasty. I could have gotten full off of the appetizers, but I saved room for DINNER [getting to know GOD and HIS Son, Jesus Christ]. (Read John 17:3)

When dinner was served, my plate contained foods that fit each of the five food groups of a healthy diet:

  1. MEAT: study of God’s law, HIS WORD
  2. STARCH: development of faith and beliefs through understanding what is learned
  3. VEGETABLES: works and actions of the Believer
  4.  GRAINS: teachings shared with others
  5. PROTEINS: qualities of teaching manifested in one’s life such as love, joy, peace, goodness, etc. – (Read Galatians 5:22)

Dinner was well balanced and great tasting. I became so full from eating some of everything on my plate that I thought I couldn’t take another bite. I expressed to Jesus how wonderful this date has been, how pleased I was with HIS restaurant and the atmosphere, and how delicious the food was.

“My compliments to the chef.”

He told me to wait because “the best was yet to come”. Then in rolled the most heavenly of DESSERTS [unconditional love]. Yes, everyone has room for dessert.

As the day ended, I was told that I can return tomorrow if I choose AND I could bring a friend. After how well I was wined and dined, I will never see FAST FOOD [other people’s perceptions, personalities, principles, people and problems] in the same light.

So would you like to go with me to Jesus’ restaurant?

You can meet me there. The directions of how to get there is found in the Holy Scriptures directory. If you don’t have your own personal copy, someone nearby you should have one you can borrow. Don’t be afraid to call out for help if you can’t understand the directions. I’ll see you at the restaurant.

You will be able to recognize me amidst all of the other visitors because I am the “quiet child” sitting in the corner booth that has been preserved for me and my guests. (Read John 14:2)

PASS THIS INVITATION ALONG. There is plenty of room.

Silence

THIS IS YOUR INVITATION

“Hey there all you thirsty ones! Come to the water, and the ones that have no money COME, buy and eat. Yes, come! Buy wine and milk even without money, and without price. Listen intently to me, and eat what is good and let your soul find its exquisite delight in fatness itself.” – Isaiah 55:1, 2

Like Martha said to Mary, I say to you, “The Lord is calling for you…”

And what does the LORD say to each of us?

Read Luke 18:22; Matthew 16:24; Mark 1:17; Luke 9:23
