This is the book of Luke (NKJV) in its entirety.
I was listening to the NIV version on my phone early this morning through the BibleGateway app on my phone while waiting to go into a meeting and…
… as I was listening I heard of a man that Jesus healed whose issue was that he suffered from abnormal swelling in his body.
… as I was listening, I was reminded of how I have seen people with that issue.
As a matter of fact, someone had just posted a picture of really badly swollen feet that they said were painful.
I considered what I was listening to, but I was busy, and the distractions caused me to forget it.
Yet, something else came up in the day which brought me back to thinking about what I had heard in the book of Luke and the fact that there have been several times that I have heard of medical conditions in the Bible and healing or judgments surrounding them.
For example…
1. Luke 14:1-6
The condition of this man is called EDEMA. In the Bible, they might call it Dropsy.

JESUS, the Lamb of GOD, healed him
2. Luke 13:10-17
The condition is called Camptocormia or Bent Spine syndrome (BSS) a woman had it for 18 years .

JESUS, the lamb of GOD, healed her
Now check this out:
Our spine is made up of bone. As we get older the bone becomes thinner with age. Eventually, as it thins, it can no longer hold up under the stress and it becomes compressed.
Did you catch that?
It can no longer hold up under the stress
Are any of you under stress that is too much, stress that you can no longer hold up under?
The stress causes the bone to become compressed which leads to a compression fracture
These types of fractures occur more in the front of the spine than in the back.
So catch this now: This is stress that you are facing, not stress that you have let go and put behind you. Stress can lead to your having posture problems. a condition irritated by large intracranial pressure.
Intracranial is another way of saying skull.
Where do you experience stress but in the mind and emotions? This is a clear sign that the one experiencing it does not have on their whole armor of God and in specific, they are not wearing the Helmet of Salvation. (Click this link to be taken to the Dressed for Battle Course Module 6 which addresses the wearing of the Helmet of Salvation.)
God tells us to be anxious for nothing. We need to start listening because when we are stressed and anxious over issues that Jesus tells us to throw on him, in our trying to carry issues that are too heavy for us to carry, and that bends us over depressing us in the spirit realm, is it possible that in our continuing to do this it will lead to manifesting in our natural realm as BSS Bent Spine Syndrome.
Remember we pray, as it is in Heaven, so be it on earth. So it happens in the spirit first before it even manifests in the natural. Therefore, we need to do as Jesus tells us to do and give our issues to Him.
JESUS, the Lamb of GOD, healed this woman.
Jesus took that weight off of the woman that she carried for 18 years.
What are you carrying that you need to give to Jesus?
The next two medical conditions that I am going to share were not healed. The individuals died from their conditions
But this is what stands out to me.
The afflictions that they suffered were a judgment to the individual due to a behavior issue that they were being disciplined for.
For example…
1. 2 Chronicles 16:12
King Asa got GOUT in his feet.

There are several types of foot diseases and I looked at a lot of them but I am certain his issue was gout. though it could have also been Charcot feet, cancer, arthritis, Kaposi’s sarcoma, or Maffucci’s syndrome.
Either way what we are told is that King Asa sought the physicians but not the Lord for his issue.

So he died 2 years later.
Now to know why he was being disciplined I would say read this account starting at 2 Chronicles 14 all the way to 2 Chronicles 16 and you will see that King Asa pushed ahead and did not consult the Lord first. Click here to read that account of what happened with King Asa 2 Chronicles 14-16. It’s really interesting.
2. and this is the last one that I am going to share at this sitting is 2 Chronicles 21:18
King Jehoshaphat’s oldest son King Jehoram was wicked so much so that God struck him with an incurable disease of the bowels

He was struck with Crohn’s disease.

Now there are more diseases like this mentioned throughout God’s Word, and as time passes I will no doubt begin to dig into these a little deeper. I feel that I am being led to this because this isn’t the first time that I was led to do research into medical issues.
But unless the LORD leads me to do so, I will wait until I start digging deeper here because right now I am called to legal research for a project that the Lord has me working on under the directive of the Holy Spirit.
I just find all of this to be really interesting, especially if you pay attention to the fact that much of the diseases that they came down with, in old testament bible times, put on them by GOD was a result of a judgment; and in the new testament bible times, Jesus demonstrated his power and authority over these various diseases. Much of them he referred to as demonic oppressions.
We don’t call things today what Jesus called it. I don’t know why. I almost feel as if it is done to downplay the seriousness of what is being experienced.
Still, more than anything, what stands out to me is what was said about King Asa.

He didn’t have to die from his disease, but he did. Why? Because he did not seek the Lord about his illness. He ONLY sought the physicians.
God’s word said that.
God’s Word is truth. We need to start paying attention.
