Christians and YOM KIPPUR 2023 (5784) – The Day of Atonement

TONIGHT is the night ,YAY!!!

All year I have looked forward to this date.
I actually have been thinking about and excited about this date since Spring (Nisan, 2023)

Tonight at 6pm is the 10th of Tishri

Tonight is Yom Kippur

September 24-25, 2023

Tonight is the night of our appointment before the Lord.

It’s what I, and many, call our annual doctor’s appointment.

It’s the night that Father makes a decision about us (individually and collectively) regarding this upcoming year.

from 6pm TONIGHT until 6pm Tomorrow

To explain the excitement that I have regarding this day, think about what you might feel on January 1 in reference to the year ahead of you.

Do you feel ready to go into it?
Do you feel excitement over what is to come?
Do you renew your commitments?
Do you aim to do better?
Do you let go of the past and old in preparation for the new?

I believe that Yom Kippur wells up differently in everyone.

The Jews have such a rich culture of things that they believe in and have observed in reference to this Day and the other Appointed Times of the Lord in which they gather.

As for me, I am grateful that it sits differently with me and for those of us who grew up under this Roman Greek culture and that we don’t have to observe it exactly as the Jews do because we couldn’t due to our not knowing or even really understanding their culture. To try to do so would make a mockery of what is so beautiful and worth taking the time to get to know about as it applies to us who have come to Christ as to the Jews who shares the lineage of King Jesus.

Having been drawn and positioned to find and learn about these appointed times, even more so can I appreciate what the Apostle Peter said at the council at Jerusalem:

See Acts 15:1-29

This >>>Acts 15:1-29<<< is what Christians need to understand when it comes to the Appointed Times of the Lord.

We need to be present.
But we don’t need to mimic how the Jews acknowledge this celebration that is a part of their culture.

In our trying to mimic them we will find ourselves going through the motions without the richness of understanding and that cheapens the experience, or as I said earlier, it makes a mockery of the experience, and GOD is not to be mocked..

I repeat:
You do not have to celebrate these festivals in the manner that the Jews celebrate them.

For them, it is different because it is their culture and their culture is rich and beautiful. It is to our benefit to truly learn about their culture, especially when we read the Bible which tells about them and their relationship with God. Also, especially because we claim to believe in Jesus Christ, that He is the Son of God made flesh. This is His lineage. So to draw closer to Him is to learn about who He was and that includes learning about His ancestral lineage.

This is what the Gentile, Ruth – the Moabitess, said to Naomi. Ruth is a part of the lineage that Jesus was born of. She is the mother of OBED who is the grandfather of David. Her husband redeemer was BOAZ who was the son of Salmon and the Gentile, Rahab, of the city of Jericho.

But for us, (1) we simply have to show up at the appointed time. (2) When you show up when you present yourself before the King (do not ask another human how. Ask GOD Himself how) (3) and when you show up, make sure you do not come empty-handed. As you learn more about the festivals from the Word of God you will find that God Himself said, “Do not come before ME empty-handed”

Deuteronomy 16:16-17 New International Version (NIV)
No one should appear before the LORD empty-handed: Each of you must bring a gift in proportion to the way the LORD your God has blessed you.

You are presenting yourself to the KING

You are presenting yourself before our Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ. This is your opportunity to present the best you have to offer. What will you bring?

Remember Cain.
Remember how his offering was not received with favor, but his brother’s offering was. Why? Do you know? Don’t you think that this is something that you should know so that you do not come with an offering that is not received?

Proverbs 25:2
English Standard Version

2 It is the glory of God to conceal things,
but the glory of kings is to search things out.

Don’t think it’s about bringing a tithe and an offering of a couple of dollars to a church. That is totally not it. What does your dollars mean to the King who owns this earth that you walk on.

Psalm 24
Of David. A psalm.
1 The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it;
2 for he founded it on the seas
and established it on the waters.

Instead, you need to search the scriptures. You need to get before the Lord in prayer. You need to ask the LORD Yourself.

Jeremiah 33:3
English Standard Version

3 Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.

OOWEEEEEE

That is what the Holy Spirit was showing me during the 10 Days of Awe when I was reminded of the cistern that is full and overflowing.

Proverbs 5:15-17
New International Version
15 Drink water from your own cistern,
running water from your own well.
16 Should your springs overflow in the streets,
your streams of water in the public squares?
17 Let them be yours alone,
never to be shared with strangers.

Many have taught this verse in reference to men having sex with their own wives and not looking for relations outside of the confines of their marriage union. Looking at this from the surface and not realizing that this had a greater meaning than marriage in the natural, one can easily miss that this is about our marriage, relationship, covenant with God.

You see, Jesus said regarding our cisterns

John 7:38
English Standard Version
38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’”

So Proverbs 5:15-17 has to do with our listening to and drinking from the overflow of others as opposed to getting before the Lord and letting him clear us out of all of the junk in us that will stop up our flow so that as we can begin to truly BELIEVE. Then, we will begin overflowing ourselves.

WOW!!! Now I see what was really happening when people felt like their faith was being questioned and they would respond, “I have faith” and then they would proceed to say “But…” as they talk about what their natural eyes see. Their flow was indeed stopped up, cluttered. Theirs was stale water because it was not flowing. And instead of acknowledging that they needed to be unplugged and released to flow, they chose to guard their faith instead of giving their faith. WOW!!!!

Like for real WOW!!!
Our faith must flow.

Yom Kippur ends Monday, September 24, 2023, at 6 p.m.

Revelation 12:11
English Standard Version
11 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.

We need to speak our faith.

But instead, today, many people simply listen to faith and speak something other than faith. They speak from what their eyes see even though we are told that we walk not by sight, but by faith. We need to speak our faith.

Glory HALLELUJAH!!!

So right now, today, many are going to drink from the cistern of others when the truth is that they need to unplug the well within them.

Could this be why the music ministry was so important? Could this be why such emphasis was put on songs that the people could connect with almost to the point that in some areas the music ministry surpassed the preaching. Could this be why people were awake during the ministry of music and sleep during the preaching of the word?

OH WOW!!!!

People liked the melody and the beat. When it was a song they liked they opened their mouths and sang.

When people are saying “church was good” but they can’t remember what the message was about, many times they say church is good because of the music, and their really getting into the praise and worship.

We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony.

We have got to open our mouths.

This is why there is not much maturing in the body of Christ. This is why milk is still being administered where there should by now be meat.

This is why in the church pastors can be heard saying about the people, “they are not ready yet”.

It is because they are not opening their mouths.

They come. They sit in silence after they have finished singing. They present to be listening but many are asleep. Many are thinking about others things instead of what is being said to them. They are not paying attention.

Oh wow… LOL… Now I understand why the catholic church made people stand up, sit down, stand up, sit down ( so I heard ) LOL… They were trying to keep everyone woke LOL

wow!!!

If you are in ministry, a leader who is called to the pulpit…
If you are seeing the condition of the people and wondering how to reach them and trying to find ways with your message to reach them…
If you are putting together one event after another event trying to reach the people and connect with them…

The issue is that no matter how many events you hold. No matter how many services you do. No matter how great the music ministry is and how perfectly they sing and sound.

The issue is that the people are sleeping with their eyes wide shut. This is why you feel some type of way by what you are seeing when they are looking at you.

You tell jokes in your sermons to try to keep the people awake. They hear the joke and will last a few seconds before you bore them again.

DONT TAKE IT PERSONAL

The issue is they need to open their mouths and speak their faith.

But you have them saying AMEN or OUCH every few minutes and slapping their neighbors LOL to wake their neighbor up. LOL

They need to speak faith.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

From their lips to their ears first.

If you had them reading God’s Word aloud they would hear and retain more.

You can’t make a person stand up. But you can teach them the importance of standing before King Jesus when reading God’s Word. You can help them to understand so that they can on their own choose to honor King Jesus with standing to read God’s Word.

The people need to hear the word of God spoken from their own lips. They need to hear themselves reading God’s Word.

If you want to grow up your church members, activate them by incorporating in your next meeting their reading God’s Word aloud.

Don’t just pick one or two because that same one or two will always be the one ready.

Get them ALL involved by having them ALL come prepared with a verse to share. Make sure when that verse is shared that everyone understands it. Get the children involved by having them read also even the ones just learning how to read.

Do you understand that this will awaken your church and it will get them started with making sure that they are opening God’s Word when they are not at church too. That is what will prepare them to begin becoming unclogged.

Oh wow

You teach a baby to hold their bottles.

You give them tastes of food to awaken their taste buds to wanting to eat

You have to do the same with the Word of God.
You have to awaken people to hunger for the Word of God.
You have to create the hunger in them by getting them to taste and see that the Word of God is good.

But that cannot be done until they sit in the presence of the Lord themselves. OOWEEE That is why for so many their wells are dry.

You teach them to sit and eat by helping them to do so when they come to your house (church) where they listen to you share on all that you ate. But that is not them eating. It is them hearing.

You will tell them what the word says and where it says it, but that won’t cause them to chew the word for themselves. Some don’t even have a bible with them. But they have their cell phones.

Have them pull up their Bibles on their cell phones. Take a second to teach them how if they don’t know how. What’s the purpose of going to church and not being prepared to read God’s Word.

OOWEE

Ok Jeremiah speak on it.

Jeremiah 2:9-13
English Standard Version
9 “Therefore I still contend with you,
declares the Lord,
and with your children’s children I will contend.
10 For cross to the coasts of Cyprus and see,
or send to Kedar and examine with care;
see if there has been such a thing.
11 Has a nation changed its gods,
even though they are no gods?
But my people have changed their glory
for that which does not profit.
12 Be appalled, O heavens, at this;
be shocked, be utterly desolate,
declares the Lord,
13 for my people have committed two evils:
they have forsaken me,
the fountain of living waters,
and hewed out cisterns for themselves,
broken cisterns that can hold no water.

Did you see it???

In verse 13 the Lord says

13 for my people have committed two evils:
they have forsaken me,
the fountain of living waters,
and hewed out cisterns for themselves,
broken cisterns that can hold no water.

FATHER wants us to come to HIM
and people go to others instead thinking that they presented themselves to the Lord when in actuality

They
Did
NOT

and they do not know this.

Then they return home and they are still facing the same problems and issues and not knowing how to handle them or receive the answers they so desperately need.

King Jesus is the answer
God’s Word is the answer

FATHER wants to speak directly to YOU about your issues, circumstances, and situations

It’s like this…
you have siblings
your parent calls for you
your parent is trying to get your attention because
your parent wants to talk directly to you
not through your siblings to you

The only intercessor that we have is KING JESUS

We approach the throne of grace, in the name of King Jesus Christ, (Hebrew: Yeshua Hamashiach)

There is no greater name that has been given to us.

You and your siblings are each individually different from one another. Your personality is different from that of your siblings. Your parents love your siblings and they love you too. It won’t look the same because your personalities are different. Do you get it?

You need to get before the Lord yourself.
HE wants to talk directly to YOU.

Yes, we are encouraged by the faith of others. That is good.
We are encouraged and inspired for our journey by hearing the faith of others. It lets us know that we are not alone, that we are not the only one going through something. That others are going through and getting through because of GOD helping them.

Others, like myself, are sharing from our cisterns that have been opened and are flowing freely, even to the point of overflowing because of how much we position ourselves to be filled and refilled.

You have a cistern within you that needs to be opened and filled and refilled too.

You have a cistern in you that needs to overflow and when you believe,

when you truly believe,

then your cistern will flow from within with streams of living water that comes from your getting into the presence of GOD

for yourself

and drinking from GOD Almighty, the SOURCE of the living waters,

for yourself

with the help of the Holy Spirit who has been sent to us to help us by King Jesus, and given freely to anyone who asks for such help.

Who do you ask?

King Jesus

But as long as you are trying to look like someone else. You will miss it.

This is personal.

It’s personal for you
It’s personal for me

Read Acts 15:1-29 because it’s your freedom, Gentile, to not have to look like a Jew, even as you embrace the riches that we have because of the Jews – the lineage through which our Messiah King Jesus has come.

This takes me to Romans 11:11-32

Israel was hardened so that we could be grafted into the True Vine (Christ Jesus). Once all of the Gentiles who will come in have come, then those of Israel who were hardened will return also. YOM KIPPUR and 5 days later THE FEAST OF INGATHERING.

Israel is beginning to return.

Does this mean that we are approaching (nearing) the end of the line of the Gentiles who were to come in?

I don’t have that answer. But instead, what wells up inside of me at the thought of it is the need to reach more not with God’s wrath but with God’s love. LOVE will draw.

Jesus said if He is lifted up He will draw all men unto Him.

I feel an urgency to speak more.

And yet even as I feel that urgency, I also remember that FATHER knows who belongs to HIM and no one who belongs to HIM will be left behind.

OOOwee….

I trust You, LORD
I trust YOU.

Acts 15:8-11
English Standard Version
8 And God, who knows the heart, bore witness to them, by giving them the Holy Spirit just as he did to us, 9 and he made no distinction between us and them, having cleansed their hearts by faith. 10 Now, therefore, why are you putting God to the test by placing a yoke on the neck of the disciples that neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear? 11 But we believe that we will be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they will.”

Acts 15:19-20
English Standard Version
19 Therefore my judgment is that we should not trouble those of the Gentiles who turn to God, 20 but should write to them to abstain from the things polluted by idols, and from sexual immorality, and from what has been strangled, and from blood.

I am so excited because the Appointed Time is here.

Today, Sunday, September 24, 2023, at 6p.m. begins YOM KIPPUR
excuse me while I go prepare to present myself before the LORD

Today is the 10th of Tishri (Tishrei) 5784.
