Something Old Something New The Blessings – Leviticus 26:9 (C)

Rooted, Established, and Built Together

Introduction

Throughout scripture, God repeatedly uses the language of planting, building, establishing, pruning, refining, and fruitfulness. These images help reveal how God develops, strengthens, and prepares His people over time.

In this study, we will search the scriptures together and explore how roots support growth, foundations support building, pruning prepares for fruitfulness, and refinement removes impurities.

Take your time with each section. Search carefully. Compare scriptures. Define important words. Notice connections. And consider how these same principles may appear in everyday life.

Let’s Start with the Word

As you read the scriptures below, pay attention to repeated ideas connected to roots, fruitfulness, foundations, pruning, refinement, and spiritual growth. Notice which themes repeat across multiple passages and which scriptures appear connected to one another.

Scriptures

  • Leviticus 26:9
  • Colossians 2:6–7
  • Matthew 15:13–14
  • John 15:1–16
  • Ephesians 2:19–22
  • 2 Samuel 7:10–16
  • Revelation 22:16
  • James 1:2–4
  • Malachi 3:2–3

Consider This

As you move through today’s scriptures, notice how often growth is connected to preparation.

Pay attention to:

  • What happens before fruitfulness?
  • What happens before strengthening?
  • And what happens before building?

Notice the difference between pruning and uprooting. Notice how scripture connects roots, foundations, refinement, and stability together.

As you compare the verses, consider how these same progressions may appear both throughout scripture and within everyday life.

Berean Study

“These were more noble… in that they searched the scriptures daily…” (Acts 17:11)

  6. Why do you think fruitfulness is often connected to remaining planted or established?

Bringing It Into Everyday Life

Think about something in your daily life that required a strong foundation before growth could happen. This could be:

  • a relationship,
  • a skill,
  • a habit,
  • a business,
  • a garden,
  • or your spiritual life.

What happened when the foundation was weak? What changed when the foundation became stronger?

Now consider areas in your own life where roots may still be developing beneath the surface even if visible fruit has not yet appeared.

Baby Step Reflection

Choose one scripture from today’s study and spend 10 quiet minutes reflecting on it sometime this week.

Ask yourself:

  • What is this scripture teaching me?
  • Where do I see this principle in my own life?
  • What area of my life may need stronger roots or a stronger foundation?

Write down one small step you can take this week to strengthen that area.

Continue the Journey

Growth often happens beneath the surface long before fruit appears above the surface.

Keep searching.
Keep connecting scriptures.
Keep defining words.
Keep growing.

One root at a time.
