Let’s Start With the Word
Genesis 12:2 (NKJV)
“I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing.”
Genesis 24:35 (NKJV)
“The LORD has blessed my master greatly, and he has become great; and He has given him flocks and herds, silver and gold, male and female servants, and camels and donkeys.”
Matthew 5:16 (NKJV)
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Let’s Take a Moment to Think About This
One of the things that stood out to me while studying Abraham’s life was not what Abraham said about himself. It was what someone else said about him.
Years earlier, God had spoken a promise to Abraham. He said, “I will bless you and make your name great.” At the time, Abraham could not see everything that promise would become. Like many of God’s promises, it began as a word spoken before the evidence appeared.
Years later, we find Eliezer standing before Rebekah’s family. He is explaining who Abraham is and why he has come. What caught my attention was that Abraham was not there speaking about his accomplishments. He was not trying to convince anyone of his importance. He was not listing his successes.
Instead, Eliezer simply testified to what he had witnessed.
“The LORD has blessed my master greatly, and he has become great.”
There is something beautiful about that.
The blessing had become visible.
Not because Abraham had promoted himself, but because God’s faithfulness had become evident over time.
As I thought about that, I realized that some of the most powerful testimonies are the ones we never give ourselves. They come from people who have watched our journey. They have seen the prayers, the struggles, the growth, the waiting, and the faithfulness. They have seen what God has done behind the scenes.
Sometimes we spend so much time wondering whether God is working that we fail to notice what others can already see.
Eliezer saw the blessing.
He saw the evidence of God’s faithfulness.
He saw the fruit of years spent walking with God.
The same can be true in our own lives.
We may not always see our own growth. We may not always recognize how far God has brought us. Yet there are often people around us who can see His fingerprints on our story.
Perhaps that is part of what it means to be a blessing.
Not simply receiving God’s goodness, but living in such a way that His faithfulness becomes visible through our lives.
When people look closely, may they not see our greatness.
May they see His.
Consider This
- Has someone ever pointed out God’s work in your life when you were unable to see it yourself?
- What evidence of God’s faithfulness can you identify as you look back over your journey?
- How can your life quietly reflect God’s goodness to those around you?
Before You Go, Hold Onto This Thought
God’s greatest work in our lives is not always announced in the moment. Often it unfolds quietly, one day at a time, one step of faith at a time.
The beautiful thing about God’s faithfulness is that it leaves evidence behind. Sometimes that evidence becomes visible to others before we fully recognize it ourselves.
If you are in a season of waiting, growing, or trusting, do not become discouraged. The Lord is still at work. The same God who blessed Abraham continues to work in the lives of His people today.
May your life become a testimony of His goodness, His faithfulness, and His love.
